Higher Seeds Prevail in Game 2
Orangutans and Sharks prevail in Game 2 on Thursday, setting up elimination games for both series on Tuesday.
Fighting Orangutans 11 vs Twin City Arrows 7
The Orangutans took an early lead on goals by Glen Holmes and Mitch Broussard and never relenquished the lead for an 11-7 game 2 victory, tieing the best-of-three semi-final series 1-1.
NSSLL rookie Glen Holmes had 7 pts (5G 2A) to pace the Orangutans. Mitch Broussard and Drew MacDonald had 2 goals apiece and Jody Gorman and Bryce Mayea added singles. Josh Udall held the Arrows to 7 goals for the win.
Ben Mckay had his 2nd hat-trick in 2 games and Jamie Dunbar also recorded a hat-trick for the Arrows with Brad fawson adding the other goal.
The third and deciding game of the series goes Tuesday July 11th at 7:00pm at the RBC Centre.
Colby Pool Sharks 12 vs Halifax Hustle 9
The Sharks put together runs of 3 goals, 4 goals, and the final 3 goals of the 3rd period to defeat the Hustle and extend their best-of-three semi-final series to a third game.
Ryan Morris lead the way with 4 goals and Mark Seward had 3 goals for the Sharks. John MacDonald (2), Andrew MacNeil, Ryan Fougere and Greg Delano also scored and Brandon Deveaux earned the win in nets.
Ian McShane, the regualr season points and goals leader, continues his run in the playoffs, adding 4 more goals and 2 assists to his totals. Ryan Daley (2), Dan Axford, Jay Titchmarsh and Lewis Jarvie rounded out the scoring for the Hustle.
The third and deciding game of the series goes Tuesday July 11th at 9:00pm at the RBC Centre.
Game 1 of the NSSLL Championship "Wayne Finck Cup" is scheduled for Thursday July 13 at 8:00pm at the RBC Centre before the teams take a one week break for the North American Indigenous Games.
